Seminar Description

Prof Jean- Marie Rodriques is Professor of Public health and Medical Informatics in Saint Etienne Medical School, University of Saint Etienne . He was the first DRG Project Director (PMSI French acronym) within the French DOH from 1982 to 1986 and has been on the board of the French case mix agency (ATIH). Prof Jean-Marie trained initially as a Gastro-enterologist and later acquiring a masters in Bio-statitics and Informatics and a doctorate in Health Economics. He has widely published papers and book chapters in clinical research, epidemiology, health-economics , informatics. He is consultant on Case-mix and Clinical Terminology with ministries or organisations from Australia, Bulgaria , Czech republic , Germany , Hungary, Ireland , Italy, Japan, Romania , Russia, Spain , Sweden ,Switzerland , UK,USA. He is an adviser to the WHO on ICHI (International Classifications of Health Interventions) ICF (International Classification of Functioning and Disability) and The 2IMPS (International Information Model for Patient Safety).

He is teaching and doing research not only in Saint Etienne but in several academic, healthcare or professional settings within and outside France : University of Rennes and French national school of public heath, University of Paris V , University of Lyon, University of Nancy, University of Dijon, University of Besançon, French national federation of cancer centres, national clinical college of teachers in therapeutics ,University of Yale ,University of Texas Medical Branch in the US, University of Sydney Australia, Université Laval in Quebec ,University of Manchester in UK, University of Linkoping in Sweden, University of Geneva in Switzerland, Univesity of Bundeswehr in Germany,University of Kuopio in Finland , University of Debrecen in Hungary , Institut Semashko in Russia University of Tokyo and University of Fukuoka in Japan. He was the initiator of European Union Roadmap on Semantic Interoperability (2005-2008) and is presently involved in several EU Research and Development Programs: Semantic Health Net Network of excellence where he is convening the work on OWL DL annotations of Clinical Practices Guidelines for Heart Failure and SALUS project on Pharmacovigilance. He is involved in health informatics standardisation process within CEN /TC 251/WG2, ISO / TC 215/WG3 and AFNOR being the editor of 3 European full standards in Health informatics on Categorial structure : EN ISO 1828 2012 on surgical procedures developed from different procedures classifications and namely SNOMED CT procedures, EN12264 2005 on Categorial structure (a light ontology) and EN 15521 2007 on Anatomy. He is the founding chair (1984-2002) and emeritus president of the Patient Classification Systems International (PCSI) which groups teams and individual working on case mix in 35 countries from the 5 continents
